FSAAFM Projects (Ysterplaat)
The FSAAFM Ysterplaat Branch is currently busy with several projects, most notably the restoration of Dakota 6832, Mirage F1 213 and Buccaneer 416.
The FSAAFM relies mostly on private donations and stall sales to maintain and restore SAAF Museum displays. If you would like to support a particular project, feel free to use the details in the tab below.
All donations will be used towards the intended projects.
Mirage F1 213 Restoration Project:
Work has recently started on Mirage 213 to combat the onset of corrosion and replace the original SAAF 3 Squadron paint scheme and markings. This project is making excellent progress on the final markings. Photos are being added as the project progresses week on week.

Dakota 6832 Restoration Project:
Work is currently underway on Dakota 6832 to combat corrosion and keep her looking great for many years to come. This includes preparing the exterior surfaces for a protective etch primer coat, eventually intended to be painted with a silver metallic top coat. Stay tuned for updates!

Buccaneer 416 Restoration Project:
The restoration of Buccaneer 416 is a very hands on project underway at the Cape Town branch of the SAAF museum. The goal is to restore the aircraft after years of neglect outside so that she can be preserved for future generations. The project was completed at the end of 2024.

Dayglo tends to fade very rapidly and it has been a good few years since 611 last received some TLC...
